Every learner at Waterside School has an Individual Learning Plan that is built directly around the targets in their Education, Health and Care Plan. It is how we make sure that the support we provide is purposeful, personalised, and always working towards the right outcomes for your child.
We use our Navigation Tracker to analyse your child's EHCP in detail, identifying the key end-of-key-stage targets that are most important for their development. Each of those targets is then broken down into smaller, manageable SMART targets, ones that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. This gives your child clear and achievable steps to work towards, rather than broad goals that can feel distant or hard to measure.
It happens every day, in lessons and in the quieter moments across the school week. Our teachers use the Crew Grabsheet to monitor and record progress towards your child's SMART targets as it happens. The adults working directly with your child are always clear on what they are working towards, and progress is captured consistently and accurately throughout the year rather than being pieced together at the end of it.
As a parent or carer, you can be confident that what is presented at your child's annual review is an accurate and detailed reflection of their progress throughout the year, not a general impression or a summary put together at the last minute. At Waterside School, progress is measured, recorded, and always tied back to the outcomes that matter most for your child, their ability, and their comfort.
